An hour and fifteen minutes north of Presque Isle, on the St. John River, the 48th Annual Madawaska Acadian Festival marks a history that runs across two continents and lands, permanently, in Northern Maine. Four days of music, food, and family reunions, free to attend. The festival is one of the few places in the United States where Acadian culture is not a museum exhibit but the ordinary life of the town, dressed up for company.
